'Not All Trans Bodies Have to Look a Certain Way'

Zine artwork, 2021

Illustration as part of a zine celebrating trans sexuality and euphoria, and highlighting the diversity of trans bodies within the community.

So much of the already sparse representation of transgender bodies focuses only on a certain look, a 'cisgender look', tying trans euphoria to the ability to pass and the desire to 'look cisgender'. Through the illustrations in this zine I wanted to celebrate the diversity of trans bodies, away from the skinny, flat chested body with perfectly symmetrical scars, which is often the only trans body that is shown and celebrated.

This zine creates a space where different trans bodies can co-exist and are treated with the same euphoria and importance and validation. All the illustrations are drawn from reference photos submitted by transgender people who have consented for their photos to be used as reference.
